Gsp branching out

Is this normal? I used to cut them off hoping I would get a lush green mat but it only seems to grow outwards.

Nick from what I told there's a branching variety and a Mat variety,.. I have both and they grow like wildfire ,.. You apparently have the branching variety

Loves flow. But it can get to be too much of a good thing. At least it's pretty easy to harvest and sell.
