I feed my green spotted puffer fresh grocery shellfish all of the time. Shell on shrimp are nice as are mussels, clams, and crab legs. Make sure they are raw and don't smell fishy or of chlorine. Freeze them then defrost them in vitamin water before feeding.
the mussels and clams are a great tool to use to get your fish to eat. crack the shell just a little, let them open the rest of the way...aftwards, take it out, rinse well and then you can stuff it with other foods you want them to try.
