been reading the net for a few months, wife got me started when she came home one day with a betta in a bowl.
didnt take very long to realize he needed a real tank.
off to Wally world for 5g kit.
things went ok for awhile..following filter changes etc (following manf recomendations)
had no clue about cycling or any other such ins & outs.
went thru a few msyt snails then betta got ill & died.
new Betta more snails, began to read up o why snails were so short lived etc
found out that theres more to it all than just feeding..lol
long& short,5g got a clean out & managed fish in cycle with plant Anubias.
decided (for me,wasnt allowed to add what I wanted to the 5g) to get my own system going..
got ML 38g kit & proceeded from there.
Goal is Low-Tech low light planted comunity tank
having a lil trouble with the Patience Part..lol

Hahaha. So you weren't allowed to input on the 5g so you just went bigger! Lol.

I have the same problem at my house. But in this case I'm the wife and they are MY tanks. I won't even let my hubbie help with a water change, feeding etc.

If he brought home a tank and it was bigger than mine....I'd be shopping.

Who needs a sofa anyway when that is the perfect spot for a 100g. Lol

Welcome. Sounds like an eventful start and hope it all gets easier.

Sounds like you are both having a go at the aquarium hobby together separately!!!

Happy adventures! So much to learn and know, and continue learning forever, new things trend and pop up all the time. So much variety one could hardly become bored.

Great info in my signature article from here.
