okay, I'm rinsing it out... it's coming up muddy still... do I rinse it till it runs clean or just put it in the tank? Their website is kinda vague.

I rinsed it to get it kind of clean and then into tank. Like API laterite clay I found it still turns the water very muddy. The problem I feel is you want those clays for the plants so a catch 22 on how much rinsing to do.
I then used seachem clarity and generally find these heavy clays will clear after several days. Then clean filters.
In my tank I couldn't even see an inch into the tank after adding and now, even when digging in it to add plants, the substrate is fine.
