Hi mate, I am attaching photos of my orange star fish. It looks patchy around the tips of its tentacles. Is it sick. The parameters are fine with the fish, corals and macros doing fine ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1412563546.293174.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1412563587.113363.jpg

Hi bribo ,

firstly sorry for pesting you, but I find you reliable and regular.

I run a reef tank which I have been discussing with you off and on.
My parameters on 22 sep and 12 oct are as under
Temp 26.5,26.3
Sp gr. 1.022, 1.025
Ph. 8.2,8.2
No2. 0,0
No3. 10,20
Ca. 440,420
Kh. 12,9
Phosp. 0.25,0.25

During the intervening period I cranked up the sp gr.
I do manual dosing and I know ca and alk are due.
I run diy bio ball reactor.
The fishes and the reef are doing fine same with macros.
No3 bothers me. Any diy to reduce no3 other than a partial WC
Best regards.

I've actually started dosing vinegar recently and I've noticed a decrease in nitrates and a bit faster coral growth. You just have to be careful not to strip all the nutrients out over time. Do you have a skimmer? I find vinegar dosing safe and easy.

Yes I have a reefoctopus classic 150 that does great job. I use vinegar when I dose ca.
How much vinegar to dose otherwise.
