Help with uv steriliser

I just got a uv steriliser And need a bit of help on setting it up, dose the water have to pass through my filter first or the uv steriliser?

Do you have a refugium? If youdo you're going to want to put it before if not it doesn't matter. It kills indiscriminately so anything coming from fuge to dt is destoyed... That is as long as the water isnt moving faster than the sterilizer can handle
