I am in the process of plumbing my 90gal to a trigger sump below. I am utilizing the 2 1" holes as the stand pipes and having the return out the back and over.
The issue I am having is that since the aquarium overflow is off center on the left hand side and the way the sump bulkheads are I literally have no space to include unions, gate valve on one, and still being able to hard plumb with 2 90 degrees or 2 45s.
With that being said I plan on using some barbs on the aquarium end. Should I put barbs on the sump bulkheads below or take those off and just run the braided vynl tubing down into the sump water?
I'm worried if I connect the tubing by a barb coming from aquarium to barb on sump I leave myself more vulnerable to issues happening.
Any thoughts? Picture below of sump I am talking about. Aquarium was not on to illustrate better.
