hi

i have a brain coral, a tree coral, and some mushrooms. will hermit crabs hurt/annoy/damage/kill any of these? i just bought 20 hermit crabs to take care of an algae problem and saw a few climbing on the brain today. i got kind of nervous. i believe that they are dwarf red tip hermit crabs. thanks...

I have never had problems with my blue legs on my brain or mushrooms. However i have herd of problems arising, so i would watch it for a couple days see how it goes. When they were climbing on the brain did you see them pick at it or just climb on it?

If there is not enough other food for the hermits to eat, they could become a problem. They will all climb all over whaterver is in there way to get what they want. Typically if they are hermits that are considered "reef safe", they are only a danger to your snails ;)
