I just joined the forum today. I'm new to the hobby & have a 37 gallon freshwater tank that was set up a week ago. I'm in the process of fishless cycling -- but am concerned already that the water is too cloudy. I have a lot to learn and look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome to the community. Looking forward to seeing and hearing about what you are getting up to.

Cloudy water is likely a bacterial bloom. This is bacteria taking advantage of inbalances in the nutrients in the new tank, and growing to such an extent they become visible. This is perfectly normal in a cycling tank and should clear up on its own in a week or so when things establish and settle down. Its a positive sign your tanks cycle is starting to establish.
