I want to get away from using filter cartridges and change to floss and ceramic media. My question is do you put the ceramic media on the bottom and the floss on top? I have two 55g tanks and one 29g. Should I keep the old media in the filters until the new media has a chance to build bacteria. Is it necessary to have carbon in the filter? One tank has sand and the other two have gravel and they are all planted tanks.

Floss on bottom rings on top.

If its possible to seed the new nedia it would be best. Carbon isnt totally needed, but it does help with meds.

So you are keeping the same filter but putting new media right?

Because if it is different filters then you could just run both.

I will be using the same filters. Thanks for answering especially since I was going to put it rings on bottom and floss on top.
:thanks::thanks:
