With my recent ich scare, I went to petsmart and bought a 10 gallon tank with filter, hood, and lights for $24. The 25w bulbs are keeping the water hot for the cycling. I just found an old block of frozen various shrimp and threw that in there for the cycling. It's my first fish-less cycling...will this work okay?

sure, if you plan on LR and what not then some of the medications might actually kill the bacteria, but i'm not totally sure. hope soemone else chimes in

It should.. test the water and watch for the ammonia spike, then nitrite then nitrate. You dont need live rock for a hospital tank, maybe at most a small clay pot for fish to hide in and a sponge filter..

You can use your water from the main tank for the hospital tank water and sit your filter for hospital tank in main tank to get the bacteria on it. Of course don't do this if you have ich in the tank already.
