I've kept African cichlids with a high ph 8.8+ and concrete water. I have used Lime away on my glass lids with no loss of fish. I have also used it in my tanks(with no livestock). Lime away is an acid and what counteracts acid? A base like say Baking soda.... no worries rinse and you're done. just add rinse water and dump a partial box of baking soda in with water splash around and all acid will be neutralized.
I have found that vinegar is the slow boat to china with deposits but yes it will work.
