How many Lbs. of Liverock should I get for 40 Gallon tank

What would be the suggested amount of liverock in a 40 gallon tank?

The general rule of thumb is 1-1.5 lbs. per gallon. I'd go w/ 60-70 lbs.

I guess that general rule of thumb works fairly well. There are a few modifications to that depending on which type of rock you get. Aquacultured rock is very dense so you need up tp 2 lbs per gallon. On the other hand something less dense like bali, you only need a little over 1 lb per gallon. but as brnd said 40 lbs at least if you are going to rely on it for filtration.
