Yet another post in my planning stage of my upgraded reef tank...
What's the "best" overflow rate for a tank? Or, it is governed by the items in the sump (skimmer, etc)? I plan on doing a BeanAnimal overflow, if that matters...(which I don't think it does).
It's the return pump that determines the rate of overflow, taking into account head pressure, correct? Am I correct in my thought that a return pump rated at X gph for Y ft of head pressure is good for a skimmer requiring < X gph flow? Or is there a safety margin to take into account?
