So I have a male betta fish that's about at least 8 months old. I used to feed him twice a day with a few nutrafin bug bite pellets. Then I read somewhere on article that overfeeding can cause fin rot. Is over feeding like feeding them an amount of food that they don't finish or just feeding them a lot in general. My question is just how much should I feed my fish. Twice a day or once? About how many pellets. Enough for him to eat in 2 minutes?

Generally feed what they consume in 2 minutes. My betta gets 5-6 pellets once a day. He's a year old.

I feed mine once at night. Once in a while I feed blood worms late morning, or after water changes. And just to give an idea on how much to feed, the stomach of a Betta is as big as their eye. And it all depends on the size of the pellet. Twice a day feeding is fine too.
