how to change substrate??

With fry and shrimp in the tank??? I want to put sand over top of the gravel... Is that even ok to do?

You can mix sand & gravel but I will just give you a head's up on what will happen. The sand will eventually be at the bottom & the gravel will come to the surface of the sand. Unfortunately, its impossible to prevent from happening.

Thanks, it was a super thin layer of gravel, when I transferred tanks I just put the gravel from the old tank in the new and it hardly covered the bottom. I just got done doing it and I'm afraid I didn't rinse the sand good enough as it us VERY cloudy :/ hopefully it will settle quick. It's the first and last time I will be using black blasting sand that's for sure.
