i was told that it is more light demanding than a normal shroom but i am sure my 65 watts is sufficient. i may be putting another 20 watts on it. i have a spare ballast and i can pick up a new bulb. i am very interested in getting a torch coral. what are the requirments for a torch?

This tank is awesome. Makes me jealous that I have a freshwater aquarium. (Not dissing freshwater, I love it :)

lol i have a 55 gal cichlid, a 20 gal fully planted, a 20 gal grow out tank and a 10 gal planted. i just recently divied into salt and couldnt be happier. its not ads hard as i had thought and it much more rewarding. plus the coral choices are just to much. so many more interesting critters that u can get.

Yeah. When I am out of college and hopefully an "expert" on aquariums, my plan is to get a big saltwater aquarium for wherever I'll be living. I like saltwater fish a lot better than freshwater because of their colors. They are amazing, and I think you have, like you said, a lot more choices with decoration. I'd get one now, but I had a rocky start with my FW (now on my way though) and I don't have room. Lastly, I am too lazy to get a job (had one at a carwash but left cause it was too much work) so I just don't have the money to buy one.

well i got the skimmer up and running with not many probems. i dont have much crap in my tank so it doesnt produce that much skim. i have been running it for a couple of hours evry couple of day. seems to be working well. i was also playing around with my camera trying to get some nice moonlight shots. i thought i would post some for u guys. so here they are.

lol there are a few full tank shots on the 1st page. i will post some updated ones. i dont run the skimmer 24/7 casue it annoys the crap out of me. its relativly loud and its in my room so i cant sleep with it. and plus after a few hours it is no longer producing skim. i have such a low bioload that it has nothing to filter out. it has gotten rid if my surface build up though so i am happy.

man. tank looks great. nice pics also what type of camra do u use? i cant seem to get my pics to come out like that lol.

i use a fugi finepics s5200. got it for christmas. its a 5.1 mp but i have used a cannon power shot with only 2 mp and gotten comparible pictures. there are a few basic things to get these pictures. all lights off but the tank u are photographing. i put my lense against the glass to balance the camera or use a tri pod. and play with the manual settings. and always use a macro. plus the beauty of digital is that u can take like 100 pictures then only keep 10.

well here is another update. just took some quick shots of my new corals. and the random stuff growing on my rock. hoping u guys could help me out with some ID's here there are.
random purple things growing. has been getting bigger lately and i was wondering if this is a coral? it looked like something i saw at the LFS

wellll...... here is an update. no new corals but i got some new inhabitants. i went to the lfs plannign on picking up a blenn or goby. well they didnt have any i liked so i went looking, and to my suprise they had 6 line wrassy's on sale for 11 bucks!! couldnt pass that up and they only had 1 left. i was a little worried they wouldnt get along but so far so good. i also got 10 assorted hermit craps to help with clean up. first night in the tank the hermits completly clean up the substrate. and the wrassy got totally fat of whatever he could find in the night. what do they eat casue i swear he gained a pound overnight. tanks looking good still. my green stars are spreading like crazy and i broke a peice off so they can spread another place. the wrassy seems to wander everywhere and swim happily and side ways whenver he sees me lol. so without further adue..... here is the tank and some bad pictures.

my clean up crew

Nice tank progression.

Is that C. taxifolia on the rock with your Halimeda sp.? Make sure you keep an eye on that before it goes all sexual on your tank and takes over.

Edit: Or is it C. prolifera?

lol... what? gonna have to elaborate on that since i dont know all the technical names. sounds like something i need to know though.
