ID this coral please

Anyone familiar with this coral here? Posting for a friend of mine who is unsure of the name/species.

Is it a Stoney skeleton or has it formed a mat over a rock? It looks like a flower pot or an ave...something or other that is a close relative. But if it is a mat then it would be a type of star polyp.

Hmm don't think it's any type of star polyp. I looked up the flower pot and i think it is similar to that, if not the exact same! You said "flower pot or an ave..."
what did you mean by "ave"?

There is a cousin coral. Starts with that. Can't think of the name right now.
