Iridescent shark

Was wondering why my iridescent shark under his eye and bye his gills is rotting

It's difficult to offer an opinion without a pic. Water quality and tank maintenence has a huge impact on fish health. Bacterial infection might be the cause, or maybe injury / abrasions.
Just need a little more information.
