Hi all!
I’m new to this forum and asking for your help.

I noticed some white spots and patches on both of my catfish like a week ago but I don’t know exactly how long those have been there. I saw 1-2 times rubbing themselfes against the gravel and they look stressed sometimes as they are glass surfing.

Water parameters are okey.

I attached some pictures. Is it ich or something else? What do you guys recommend?

Thank you for your reply. I attached some more maybe clearer photos, any further idea what is it?

The tank has been up for a year and it is 120 liters.
The other fish look healthy in the aquarium. Just these two catfish seem sick.. they look like almost the same with those white spots. Maybe they had been already sick when I got them 5 weeks ago.

I don’t know catfish very well but to me it looks more like a parasite (the ring-shape indicates something that bites) because ich forms distinct raised white granules. Could also be normal patterning and catfish are always rubbing their faces on stuff. If it were me I’d do a diagnosis-by-treatment, (Antiparasitic bath, use instructions for “1-hour-soak”) But my area of expertise is in bettas which will sit still and can deal with being in cups for a while.

The rubbing was abnormal for sure when I saw it. I noticed they are breathing faster than the others.
The spots don’t seem to be holes and the link which you attached doesn’t work for me. And it is curious their body mostly in the back turned whitis. Maybe you can see on the photos as well.
I have raised the temperture to 29 celsius for 4 days but nothing has happened.
Tomorrow I’m moving them into a 30 liter tank and make some anti parasite treatment...

Any further tips?
Thank you all!

Maybe this link will work. It is an article regarding HITH. It is an article from Practical Fishkeeping. You can read about it more but the medication is usually metronidazole.

Minimizing stress, perfect water parameters, etc. for the particular fish, including pH and TDS KH/GH, and in particular, not use activated carbon in the tank.

I am not sure if those round spots are the start of HITH, or are the pattern for this fish.

Can you see anything crawling around in the gills?
