I've got lots of limestone and it stacks nice in a tank, just wondering if I could use it?

Is there anything I can do to lower the gh? And what would a high gh do to my fish?

Limestone is great for cichlid tanks it helps keep gh (general hardness) up which cichlids like. Also helps Kh (carbonate hardness) which buffers your ph levels so you won't have ph swings. Limestone is great. Absolutely you can use it. And I recommend it.

For my Malawi tank I keep my gh between 12-16 and Kh around 20-22 my ph stays stable at 8.5 -8.7. Cichlids also enjoy higher ph anywhere from 7.8-9.0 depending in species. Oh this is referring to African cichlids. SA like softer less alkaline water some almost even a little acidic if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks all for the advise can't wait to use the limestone!
