is my snail dead?

my zebra nerite snail hasn't moved in about 5 days now. not moved one bit. at all. ever. not for oxygen, food or anything. if he's dead (and at this point, i'm pretty sure he is) how can i tell? any well known reasons why he'd die? the other snail's fine, so's the betta... so?!

Take it out and smell it. If it is dead you will be able to tell in a heart beat.

Or if you're not sure try its little trap door.. If its pulled tightly shut then it might be ok, if it's open or can be opened easily without resistance then its dead...
