Is this pleco too pale?

It's a common right? Are they supposed to be this pale? He eats. He is in with some guppies so if he's sick I need to get him out asap. Not sure how long it's even been a resident at my house. Was purchased when I was away.

I stayed up reading about bn plecos and L333 but I always skip about commons. I think it's because I don't want them. It's still a living thing that was out in my care so I need to step up my game. I also think you may be spot on about blending because today it was near the back of the tank and seemed darker than yesterday
