All of mine are free swimming as of this morning....and soooo cute! It's adorable the way the male tries to keep them corralled.

Hello! My jewels have just put down their second set of eggs. The first ones I still had them in my community tank and they ate eggs as soon as I put a divider in there. So i moved the happy couple and two other jewels to a 40 gal tank. I read somewhere that it's good to have a "target fish" in with the mating pair so they don't kill eachother? Is this true? How long should i leave the others in there and how long after the hatch should i leave the parents in there?

Also, should I do my weekly water change, or wil that freak them out and make them eat the eggs again?

I've got my jewels in a 29 gallon all by their lonesomes and they're just fine.
I was advised not to do water changes until a week after they're free swimming.
