kissing gouramis.....do they get hurt when they kiss???

when gouramis kiss, is this a playful, friendly gesture????

or it is an aggressive act?

Between their own species I think its a territory thing, hence kissing gourami. If they start "kissing" any other fish though, thats when its time to worry.

It is due to territorial/aggression. They generally don't seem to bother other fish but you just never know with each individual's personality.

They are not technically kissing, but fighting. Kind of like when deer lock antlers when they fight.

It's not necessarily bad, but you should watch the aggression factor.
