Live rock fillter

Hi I've just brought a external canister filter and the little white stones that came with it should i mix the stones with my live rock or should I just put live rock in the filter ? Thanks

You could do either. The ceramic beads shouldn't hurt anything and should give a good surface for bacteria but i'm not sure if it will contain the anoxic areas that lr will.
