I have a 29 gal tank I'm just starting. I've had the substrate (not live) and filter running for a week now, no noticable ammonia yet. I will be ordering 20 lbs of LR from LR.com on Monday. Would it be OK to throw one raw shrimp tonight to help with cycling, or will that cause problems with the LR when it arrives?

Thanks,
Kurt

That would be fine, but there is no need to. You will get a NH3 spike anyway from the rock. but they LR will cycleyour tank faster. did you get any ls from them that helps too. Don't worry about the critters on the rocks they are very tough; else they would die during the shipping. I had a spike and everything lived Corals, feather duster, star fish and urchins. Just make shure you keep the NH3 levels low by doing water changes. good luck.

I am going through a mini cycle right now from adding some rock and I a worried about my fish now. but my other little guys should be fine.
