I have this installed. It comes with an extension tube with middle slot adjustments to filter middle of tank.

I can't use the extension because when installed it lifts the filter off the bottom of tank. My tank is too short for it.

Tank is 21" high including 1 3/4" black rim. (Bottom of rim is my waterline).

I don't have enough sand yet (40lbs so far), I want a deeper sand bed. So that will decrease the "height" more.

Question 1: Is the middle slot holes needed?

Question 2: If so, then how can I cut the plastic tube to fit so I don't shatter it.

Question 3: If so, what size?

Question 4: I'm seeing people having more than one, is this necessary?

I think I'm gonna run out of tank rim to place things.

I do not know how deep to go with the sand and I also need more rock but I will do a different thread for those. I will be going to foster and smith's tomorrow.

Thanks for any advice, comments, suggestions and opinions.

Thanks, I actually think I have a hacksaw somewhere in the garage LOL.

How far above the sand bed should the bottom of it be? Touching it or no?

Was looking at my threads thru aa app on my android and instead of Smiley it said roll eyes. Sorry wasn't sarcastic, to me was a happy face. I apologize.
