maxi jet 1200 noise???

i just purchased a new cpr bak pak 2 with a 1200 attached...and it seems to be very noisy and seems to be coming from the 1200...but when i stick the air line into the water so no air is being sucked into my skimmer it is almost completely quiet...so it only makes alot of noise because of the air...does anyone else have this problem and is it fixable?

Is it a swishing/slurping kind of noise? If so then that's normal for a venturi and there's not much you can do really. Maybe attach a valve to the end of the airline to reduce the intake but then you reduce the efficiency of the skimmer too.

there is already a valve...and it is more like a vibration shound...i have dampered every part of the unit that is touching the tank...i know it is the pump but i dont know why

Try another pump and see if that makes a difference. If so, you know it's the pump and not just normal for the skimmer.

im almost absolutely positive that it isnt the skimmer...the pump only does it when i have air going to it
