Mean yellow lab

My yellow lab is beating up my frontosa there is two tears in his back fin and he's looking pretty stressed any suggestions ?! I'm thinking of removing my yellow lab from the tank for a few days would that help?!

There are possible ways to fix it... As you mentioned you can take it out for a few days, once you do that I would rearrange the decor. Adding more cichlids could help ease down the aggression as well. I've turned mean cichlids into not so mean cichlids before, it can be done.
 
It is generally considered a poor idea to mix frontosa with mbuna (even labs), as the mbuna are much more aggressive, and will nip at the frontosa. I would consider re homing one or the other, but as Sidman24 suggested, you might try a few things first and see if they help.
 
Can you tell us the size of the tank and size of the fish? And how many fish in that tank?
 
I love African cichlids but in a confined space, culling might be necessary
