melafix?

One of my danios is an idiot and injured himself. thanks to everyone who replied and offered suggestions such as melafix.
Got some, added it and then did some more research. Now have some Q's:

Not worried about reduced oxygen.

Can I feed them or not?

Is 7 days really necessary?

What if I want to do a water change before then?

What about clearing it out? use a carbon filter or does it neutralize itself and peter out with water changes?

any other things i should be considering or aware of?

ps: the whole room stinks like tea tree. blech.

Id add carbon to the fikter and start water changes to remove the meds
