I need an idea of what to use for a stand for my 5 gallon aquarium. I looked at end tables but the only ones I could find was a "parson's end table" that said the weight limit was 40lbs. Would that hold it?

Kitchen counter, tv stand, things like that. Just make sure it's nice and wide, as a stand high enough to see but close to the dimensions of a 5g would be very unstable.

I already have the tank on a small desk but its getting old with a lot of wear and tear from the tank. It was on my dresser, but its completely wore out

I'm using plant stands for two of my small tanks. They work great! ( one my grandfather made years ago and my father made the other one). Also I don't have kids, dogs or cats that could tip them over! :)

Just about any bookshelf will do. If it'll hold the weight of books, it'll hold the weight of a 5g. You can put a piece of glass under the tank to prevent wear to the furniture.
