As long as you can figure out the "why", then this will just be a good lesson. If you don't know the "why", then you still have some work to do. It won't be good enough getting the nitrites to 0 if they may rise again like this. I think the vast majority of people leave this great hobby due to situations like this. They just don't get into the guts of it to figure out what really went wrong. (not saying that's your situation because it was most likely your feeding block, but rather saying in general)
