tulsa, ok
can i just carefully pull him off the rock and see if he'll reattach where i need him, or how should i go about doing this? It's not possible to just move the rock cause he's attached to 3 different rocks.

What species of leather?

You can easily cut the base of the leather away from the 3 rocks with a sharp knife like an exacto blade. It can then easily be placed somewhere else to reattach. Most likely the "stubs" left behind will also grow.

Cheers
Steve

i think its a toadstool, but it looks a lot thicker and fuller than any other toadstools i've seen
