Aquarium Advice Regular
Well, I've decided to do another tank. I have an abundance of plants, despite all of my problems that I talk your ears off with , and I want a place to put them all.
Also, I am looking forward to making this tank with way more knowledge then I had with the 29 gallon.
So I got a 10 gallon tank, filter, heater, and light off of craigslist for free. The light was covered in so much grime and mineral crust that it wasn't worth it to keep, but hey I got it for free! For my new light I was thinking of getting a hood that fits 2 incandescent bulbs, but instead of using incandescents I would use CF bulbs. Has anyone done this with one of these hoods, and do you know if the regular screw-in CF bubls would fit in one of these fixtures?
Anyways, here are some pics of what I've done so far. I spray painted the back black, which is something that I wish I would have done with my 29 before I set it up.
I then got some sand from Home Depot, and rinsed it until the water ran clear. I put the sand in the tank, and then I grabbed some river rocks from my back yard and rinsed and cleaned those with some bleach. I put those in the tank and sloped up the sand towards the back.
Next I filled it with water and put in the filter and heater. Right now for light I am using my old 29 gallon strip light. I don't have any plants in right now because I still haven't gotten down how I want to scape it. Right now the plants that I have an excess of are microword, amazon sword, money wort, corkscrew val, and wisteria. Any suggestions on what would look good where would be greatly apprieciated, and I will keep posting the progress of this tank.
Oh, and any suggestions on fish would be good too. I am thinking of getting a betta and some type of shrimp, but that is all up in the air right now.
Thanks for looking!
