I'm not so sure. It kinda looks like it has a different skeletal structure. I've never kept a coral like that one. Hope somebody can give a solid ID. I suck at identifying stony corals.

Well that other unidentified coral turned out to be a green finger leather just like I thought here's a pic

Haha I fed my Duncan coral some Mysis shrimp and it was really cool to watch the tentacles pull it In and put it in its mouth and see it slowly devour it in its little mouth

My brother was talking to me on the phone last night about feeding his Duncan. He said the thing was flipping out over some snow formula from Mark Weiss. He usually feeds it mysid shrimp though.

Hey guys since I currently have no fish in my tank my mom has been pressuring me a lot into getting a false percula or ocellaris clown and I really like the look of them so I was wondering if I did water changes every 2 days or so could I keep one as the only fish in this tank?

I had a false perculla clown in a 10 gallon reef for at least 4 years. Never had an illness or any kind of algae issues and it was packet out with soft corals. I did no more than normal water changes. If you're going to do it then use Purigen instead of carbon and make sure you have plenty of live rock and good flow. Never ever overfeed of course. Some people may scoff but I think a single fish, even a small clown is okay in a 10.

I found growing pumping Xenia helped the system. They grew like crazy and harvesting them took nutrients out of the system. Almost like growing plants.

Thanks that takes a load of my back from almost telling her I couldn't have Nemo. I also plan on a 55 gallon in the near future so may even be a grow out

Cute little guy! Just remember to underfeed him for a couple of weeks to let the tank adjust. Overfeeding even a single fish is a gateway to reef tank purgatory. Mouhahaha!!

Keep us updated!

Oh wait never mind I didn't see the words :banghead:

Almost everything loves mysis shrimp. You can cut each cube into about 8 pieces but that will still be more than you need for one fish at a single feeding. I use small pellets instead of flakes because they don't break-up and feed algae. Not that all flakes are bad, they're just more of a mess. I doubt it'll be a problem with one clown eating like 3 flakes. lol

Haha just found a pretty big feather duster in my tank really cool pics

Update: two new corals yellow fuzzy acro and a cool looking ricordia, the zoas are plump, happy, and growing rapidly. The Brain coral has been growing, I have seen feeder tentacles and it does inflate, so, yes it is alive and thriving. The Duncan is happy and inflated along with the the leather. "Ringo" the clownfish is doing great and eating well. The crab and shrimp have been molting almost every other week, and the snails have grown a lot. Now I am battling hair algae and Cyanobacteria hope to get a BRS RO/DI unit for Christmas should take care of any algae the tank is doing well and I will post pics below PS: I don't have pics of the ricordia or the yellow fuzzy open because they were just put in about and hour ago and the crab was bugging both of them.

Hopefully with a nice RO/DI system you'll be able to knock out the nuisance algae and start seeing coralline. They help so much with staying on top of water changes.

Love the Duncan!

Thanks with a whole lot of water changes the algae should go away. But do any of you guys know if it is healthy for my shrimp and crab to molt almost every other week?
