Once the plants are rooted they actually help buy keeping the substrate airated. But it's a little frustrating having to replant 2 or 3 plants a day when you start a new set up.

Lil update on the tank. I don't think I'm thrilled with my diy try on lighting. Thinking I Might try shop lights with good plant bulbs? ? Plants are so so but I haven't been dosing my first either so it might just be that.

Current stock. Plants rotalla inca, spiral vals, jungle vals, dwarf sag, 4 amazon swords, a melon sword, wisteria, ludwiggia repans. Fish around 20 cherry barbs, 7 neon tetras, 2 albino bristle nose plecs, 1 long fin marble plec, 2 peacock eels, 2 pictus cats, 1 blue 1 opaline gourami, 4 german blue rams. There are also 5 guppies, 2 big common plecs, 3 mollies, and 1 kuhli loach but I'm trading them in.
So any ideas on rounding or my stock? I'm definitely gonna up the neons to 20 I'm thinking some bigger fish maybe some roseline barbs maybe some rainbows? I'd love Angels but I've never had any luck with them

What Ferts are you using ??

Swords and Crypts need Root Tabs
For a big tank dry ferts are cheaper, but a bit confusing at first.

I use liquid ferts as my tanks are small, root tabs as I love Crypts.

Just dont go too High light unless you want to inject CO2.
Correct low/medium lighting and ferts will make your plants happier.

And those pretty fixtures in the Riparium tank look like Kessils.
Of my club members do Ripariums or Planted Filters. Ive seen some cool tanks.

At the moment I'm using up a bottle of root tabs someone gave me. I was dosing glut and seachum iron but I ran out when I moved to this 135. What would you recommend for on a budget?

How often are you adding root tabs ?
I only add every 4 months unless a plant says they need more.

On a budget ?
Join The Planted Tank and buy ferts from other Hobbyists that have a good track record.

There is plenty of info on here about dosing dry ferts. Two main methods.
