New tank set up

I've upgraded my 20 gal cichlid tank to a 55 gal. I have moved the fish to a temporary home until I get it all set up. I was going to use the water from the 20 gal to start the new tank. Any advice on how long after treating the new tank should I wait to reintroduce my fish to their new spacious home?

On 2nd thought not gonna use old water starting fresh so thoughts?

If it was me I'd add the water and conditioner and wait till the temp matchs and move the fish and filter over. Then just keep a close eye on your water perimeters and do water changes as needed
