Hi all,

I want to restart my freshwater tank. Nothing bad actually happening at the moment, but I’m a bit bored with the current setup. One question though:

Can I bypass the cycling by reusing 75% of the existing water, using the uncleaned medium and filter? I do not have a cycled second tank to house the fish, so I’m a bit in the dark how to do it fast but correctly without losing fish in the process.

If this is an absolute no-go, what would be the safest way to do it?

Thank you!

Just temp match water from the same source as you put in your current tank (likely tapwater), swap all the media over and you're done. Instantly cycled.
