Ocean Clear canister filters

Lots of questions. I just got 2 of these for free.

Can anyone pinpoint which model these are? There's no indicators.

Has anyone used them? Are they good or bad?

Can I use my own type of media? Thinking ceramic bio spheres, filter floss, sponge.

I already emailed them and I'm waiting for a reply. My biggest concern is if I can use them like I would a Fluval. But we are going to our LFS today to talk about CO2 for our 40, I think we'll take one of them along for questions.

Those have there own type of filter that goes in them. They look like the ones used in a wet/dry vac. Kind of pricey $40-$50 online.

Did you get the pumps with them too? I dont see why you couldn't run your own media.

I don't have those type pumps. Mine is plumbed to my sump then pumped back to the tank. I use mine to polish the water but, i don't see why you couldn't use your own media for bio. or chem. filtration.
