Oscar and Jack Dempsey eating algae wafers???

Is this ok? I put them in there for my pleco. But my Oscar and Jack get them first. I thought I read somewhere one time that, to much plants in there deits could hurt them.
 
I haven't met a fish yet that doesn't go after the algae wafers. As Devil stated, drop them in after the lights are out. Preferably about an hour later.
 
my JD will notice anything that goes in the tank, lights on or off!

i think the pleco is going to have to stick to algea!

JD just likes food too much.
 
I agree....lol I set my alarm so I would get up, 3 hrs after the lighs went out and tried that. All I could hear was the oscar and JD picking them out of the gravel.

That's dedication!! Kudos to you!

Try breaking the algae wafers in quarters and scattering them in the tank.
I haven't met a fish yet that doesn't go after the algae wafers.
The more people I talk to, the more I know cats love algae wafers too!
