I taped black construction paper on the back just in case I ever wanted to change my background. So in that case I'd say flat. Plus if you ever wanna take picture of your fish, the glossy might cause fits.
It doesn't make a difference. The finish is for the paint's surface (with the air) not the side that adheres to the substrate. I work with acrylic on glass as an artist and the different finishes do not make a difference when viewed through the glass.
Sorry to jump in, but is it reccomended to paint a fully operational tank? I was gonna do it before the water and stuff went in but forgot. Will the fumes hurt my sw tank?
It should not be an issue unless you use a really strong paint. I use the acrylic paint from the craft section in wal-**rt so it is no different than doing crafts in the same room.
