Pearl Gourami Question

Hey guys. I accidently made a goof up. I have a 55 g tank with a lot of fake plants in it. I hadn't seen my pearl gourami in awhile so I thought it had died. She is a female. I ordered another female last night and before I went to bed was looking and saw mine hiding in the plants. Although I am relieved that she is still alive, I am now worried. Should the two have any problems co-existing? Is my tank big enough for the two of them? Thanks

In theory, 2 females should be fine. Pearl gouramis typically do well in trios (1 male with 2 females), so I think 2 females is ok. Your tank is big enough so even if they don't like each other, they will each have their own space.

Pearl gourami are, IME, the most peaceful of the larger gourami. I wouldn't hesitate to keep a pair of females in a 55. We have kept a group of 6 in a 40 breeder without issue.
