I need a pH buffer in my tanks and the AA article on pH suggested that crushed coral is the most stable and easy way to create a pH buffer in a freshwater tank. I don't know the first thing about coral, crushed or otherwise. Does anyone know what kind of crushed coral would be the best, or what brand? Is this something that I can pick up at Petsmart, or is it a specialty item that needs to be ordered online or through my LFS? I guessing it's not going to be a hard item to find, but I don't know if there are different kinds or what brand might do the best job.

As always, thank you in advance for any replies :)

CC is easy to find, its probably cheapest to order it unless you need a whole lot, but you shouldnt need much unless you plan on converting your substrate to CC... why exactly do you feel you need a buffer? For the most part, you shouldnt need one unless your ph is below 6 or you're setting up an african tank
