Ph help - new tank

Ok ill test again when I get home, as well as test my tap water, its just difficult to do a 50% with a 5gal bucket...lol can I do a 25 tonite and a 25 tomarrow? Will that give me the same results as a 50 tonite? And do you guys know of a good heater, mines on the fritz, idk how but it doesn't like to shut of when reaching temp...it came with the start up kit so I'm sure its nothing special...
