Oh I got that done already. My question is are there any tricks to dialing it back to just the right rate so it matches The overflow. Or is it just fiddling with it till its set
you need to test your pump rate at the DT
use a pint bottle or jug and time how long it takes to fill.Note this down

you have a 300gph overflow

300/60=5 gallons / min
5x8=40pints/min
60/40=1.5 pints/min
so you need to set your pump up at 1.5 pints per minute max,try to keep the pump set to about 1.3 pints /min

Ya. I got it dialed back to the right rate of flow. I just check every time before I leave or come home
 
I was going to use a gate valve but I hunted all over town home depot menards and local plumbing shops and not a soul in town carried them
