Hello, I am now to this site but I have been reading up on it for awhile. I use to have a 29gl aquarium when I was 16 full of guppys which turned into 3 tanks full of guppys:ermm:. I have not had an aquarium for about 10 years now but since I am planing on becoming a marine biologist ,if I ever graduate, I thought it was time to try again.

So I am planing on getting a 75 gallon aquarium and I wanted to know what you guys think about my stocking ideas

6 panda corys
5 bolivian rams
1 BN pleco
6 or more neon tetras
6 or more rasboras
and maybe a dwarf gourami

I was thinking about adding some kribensis maybe or some other type of gourami. Any other suggestion? I dont want barbs or danios because I think they are both nippy. I dont want anything too aggressive. Would love to add something else.

I am planing on getting a fluval 406 canister filter for it and using stacked slate to make caves out of.

Thanks for any input!!

update stocking list.
6 rummynose tetras
6 kulli loaches
5 honey gouramis
5 pearl gouramis
2 keyholes
6 rasbora
6 neon tetras
6 panda cory
1 bn pleco
either 5 bolivian rams or 3 bolivian rams and 2 apisto

What do you think?

I'd say no. You can't mix gourami types or they'll kill each other, so pick one type. They can become aggressive too. I wouldn't do that many cichlids, particularly with other bottom-dwelling fish like corys unless you wanted to do a cichlid tank.

I think I am going to drop the apisto and just do the bolivian rams and keyholes. I had read that gourami are less aggressive in groups of 5 or more, is that true? I will drop one of the gouramis but which one? Would the cory be ok if I droped the # of rams to 3 and ditched the pelco?

I am going to have a lot of slate caves, cichlid stones, and wood in the bottom.

just had a new idea and wanted to know what you guys think. Instead of getting 1 75g what would it be like to have 2 40g breeders side by side instead? Would it look like a 6' tank? I am not planing on having any really large fish so I thing 2 40g would give a good iliution, what do you think?
