Alright, so when my dojo loach gets a little bigger and I get more funds, I'm looking to move him into a 30 gallon. I was wondering what species I could house him with. Would angelfish work, or do they need something bigger? I've heard 30 is fine, I've heard 30 is too small. If that's too small for angels, what size would work? Another species I'm looking into (instead of angels, since I don't think this species would work with angels) are German Blue Rams. What can those live with? I get mixed answers on that, too, and was wondering if I could get some help from people who know. Also, what can live with the rams or angels, in the range of small schooling fish?

You can do angels and German Blue Rams in a 30 gal. The problem is that they may mate (the angels and the Rams) and then you run into problems with aggressive behaviors plus the potential fry.

I currently have 3 angels and 4 German Blues in my 75 gal. They were all purchased and introduced as juveniles (the angels were originally 4 and were in my 30 gal - Part of the reason for the 75 gal being set up). No mating has occurred as yet but if it does, I have a plan for it.

Many of the tetras can go with this set up...keep them in schoaling numbers (6 at minimum) in order to avoid nipping. I have both Serpaes and Lamp eyes in the 75. Take a look at the fish pics in my sig.

Don't worry, I would only get the tetras in groups of 6-8 if I got them. What specific kinds would work? Would Royal Black Emperor Tetras work? Here, let me just link you to the ones I'm looking at specifically on liveaquaria to reduce the confusion with common names.

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=983 Marble Veil Angel

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=899 Royal Black Emperor Tetra

Also, any other tetra recommendation would be hugely appreciated. Or recommedations in general. And keep in mind they'll be housed with a dojo loach.

Thanks for the links though they weren't necessary. :) In regards to the Angels, I would suggest only two unless you can get a larger tank in 6-8 months. They tend to fill out in about that time frame.

Did you happen to see the serpae's schoaling in my link?

Yes, I did. Not big on serpae tetras, though. Dunno why. I'd only get a pair of angels, I don't intend to get more than that. Maybe one of each kind? Dunno if that makes a difference. I just gave links because some of these common names are absurdly variant.
