I'm not 100% sure of the biological processes the suckermouth cats have that requires the lignin. My totally uneducated guess is its a similar process to cows, and they have some sort of bacteria in their gut which digests whatever it is they need in the lignin. I also read most of the suckermouth cats don't have a stomach proper; combine the high roughage with a VERY long intestine and poor digestion and you have a nice explanation for all that POO! LOL They must be the cows of the aquaria world...good thing they don't also have as much gas as cows do LOL
