I was thinking about adding another plant or two in my 36gl bowfront with my silvertips and serpae tetras. I have 5 of each. Is it better to get taller plants? I have ones that go about half way up or a little shorter. Does tall plants help them feel calm? not as stressed or anything? Just curious.

Thanks guys!

Taller plants would create a more natural look, so I would assume it would calm the fish

One thing my fish love is floating plants. I trimmed off a bit of Water Sprite and have it floating at the surface. My fish love to swim through it and even seem to like taking little naps in it :). The Water Sprite grows like crazy up there, just a few sprigs have grown and now cover about 20% of the water surface.

As for aesthetics, I personally like taller plants in the background, mid-height plants near the middle sides (around a centerpiece), and a few short spriggy ones in the foreground.

Here's a pic where you can see the floating Water Sprite-
